The Contemporary Christian Rock Band "Messenger" was formed in August 2010, at the request of Annette Ponder, a minister of Turn it Around Ministries, an organization that helps the homeless, drug addicts and those in need. She needed the band to perform at a benefit held at a local church. For the fundraiser, the band was requested to play 8 songs and after 6 rehearsals, Messenger was ready for their debut. Several of those who attended the event considered it to be a great blessing. The band has since undergone some changes adding keyboardist, Darren Schwartz and lead singer, Russ Skinner. Messenger is seasoned with lead guitarist Rick Shinault, drummer Frank Hagood and bassist Stan Cutchen. The band's influences are artists such as Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Lincoln Brewster, Jeremy Camp and Matt Redman.
